CONSTRUCTION

Today i started to buy all the necessary construction raw materials for the shop lot.To my surprise a lot of things has gone up,i mean the price.I wonder weather i can continue with the construction of my chalets.Looks like the budget is shrinking day by day.Cement has gone up from RM12.50/bag to RM12.70,wood is at RM2.30/ft long, bricks has gone up from RM100.00/pallet to RM108.00.The worst of all is iron bars, its rising by the day!.I wonder how the government is going to control the price.Looks like its just talk and talk only but nothing could be done except to blame the global pricing.
I am so furious with the wiper that i bought last two days. After paying for RM45.00/pair it just came out while i was driving.Had to go back to the shop to get it fixed, and its all the way some 15km away. After sending my daughter we went to the shop and my wife as usual will the window shopping and ends up buying unnecessary things. She is just a compulsive shopper.
Today it rain and rain like theres no end to it.The front lawn of my house is full of rain water.I really pity my dogs, they cannot go out to the lawn for the last two days.Towards the evening i had to release them for a while so that they are not bored.I was quite afraid of Thomas O'Malley's health,he cannot afford to have stress.According to my vet the dermatitis that he is suffering will make a come back.We really have to take care of him.On the way back we stop by at an aviary shop,to look at the birds. We saw a speaking Minah bird, the price is quite impressive which is RM800.00/bird.

RAIN

All of a sudden this morning it started to rain heavily, after one and a half month of dry spell. It pours like it is in the monsoon season. The wind was blowing very aggressive so much so the wind chime that i have been complaining that hardly makes any sound keeps on making the beautiful melody as it supposed to be.
We send our niece to the bus station after sending our daughters to school. She will joining her new semester this Monday. On the way to the bus station the wiper that i replaced yesterday dropped after a few wiping on the windscreen. We dropped by at the Tabung Haji an organization set up by the government to handle all would be travelers to perform the pilgrimage to Mecca. We wanted to register ourself for the pilgrimage.Looks like i have to settle with the Insolvency Department first in order to register for the pilgrimage.I have been longing to go for the pilgrimage for such a long time, but circumstances prevail me from performing it.I have to really settle all my responsibilities to the family first,so that i have peace of mind spending the money for the once in a life time journey.
On the way back from the Tabung Haji,we dropped by at the post office to renew my wife's and eldest daughter driving licence. After renewing the licence we drove back and told my son to stop by at the place where the wiper dropped,so that we can look for it.My wife did not tell us that the wiper was stuck at the car when it was unhooked from the wiper stand. We spend quite a long walk looking for the wiper and she happily sat in the car waiting for us to give up the search.
Reached home,we started to do the crafts box for our sister who have ordered quite a number for her gift aways at her office.
In the evening since it is still raining ,i took the opportunity to plant the hedges along the pathways in the rain. The soil was so dried up ,i dare not transfer the hedges, afraid that it will die off.I wonder what the neighbors will say if they saw me doing gardening in the rain.As at the time of writing this blog the rain has not stop.My daughter Amy is on line trying to chat with me.She says ,Karelia the state she is staying in Russia is snowing and the tempreture is around -5 to -10 degrees celcius.Oooh i would not want to be in that place for any reason at all.The mother and daughter wanted to chat so i have to give way for my laptop. so bye now.

VISITOR

Nothing much to do this morning except sending our two daughters to school.I woke up quite late when my daughter came and woke me up when its time to go to school. After sending them,i went to Awang's house who is my contractor to do the renovation of the shop lot.I handed the keys to the shop lot for him to go and the his estimation of price.
Came back after dropping by at the local 7 Eleven store to buy our usual News Straits Times the local newspaper.I find that since our new Prime Minister took over office news has been dull.Unlike during Dr. Mahathir's time,i always look forward to his comment on local issues as well as international. The news are more on the ongoing campaign for the general election.Every page is filled with all the Barisan Nasional's propaganda.
We totally forgot about our son's resit for his written driving test.Quickly i woke him up and reminded him of his task today. We send him at the Nasi Lemak KLCC store where he is supposed to be picked up by his driving instructor to be ferried to the Road Transport Department.I reminded him to call the instructor just in case he might have forgotten about today's event.True enough after sending him and we came back to the house,i received a call from him saying that the test has been postponed to tomorrow.According to him the room is full of booking for today and he tried to call my son to inform but could not get through.I guessed he must have forgotten about today and came up with the excuse, since prior to that my son tried to call him but was on voice message.
Aqim,my brother's daughter from Temerloh came over to be with us.I wonder what makes her to come here for the second time alone.I find that she is comfortable with my son's presence. At the moment she is studying at Tunku Abdul Rahman College in Kampar,Perak. What i understood is that she is taking accounting papers at diploma level. What i noticed is that she is always worrying of something, and she claims that she is here to release her tension.I would not want to probe further. Its up to her to come and open up if she wants to.
Had a good afternoon nap and woke up with a feeling of rested.I gathered all the party's flag to be hung at the front gate. Those flags were given to me by my contractor since he is the party worker during the election.I hung up at the front gate facing the sea.The breeze from the sea makes the lags sway and it add colours to the scenery.

DISCUSSION

As usual today i sent my two daughters to school. Its their first term examination. As parents we really hope that they do fairly in their exam.We are not hoping straight A's for all the subject. As long as they obtain a reasonable good grades to the subjects that they are taking is good enough.I for one never really pressure my children to come back with straight A's in all subject. All parents wants their children to achieve excellent results.Sometimes we have to face reality, not all children are gifted with bright minds. As long as they are average in all subjects,to me its alright.I never believe in sending my children to full boarding school at an early age.I have seen my friends with children at boarding school, they practically slept in their car at the rest area along the highway during weekends. They have to travel far to see their children.I do not want to miss the the growing up years with my children. How the argue their opinion and at times quarrel with their mother on house chores. Those are music to my ears. Most of the children who attended boarding school at an early age,i find them quite a distance when theres a family gatherings. They feel as if they are are misplaced, they are more open to their own friends where they grew up together. Most of the parents have such complaint after years at boarding school.
I just came back from meeting my contractor who is supposed to renovate my shop lot. After waiting almost 1 month for him to start the project at my shop lot.He has agreed to start this Monday. Its a pity that his father is warded at the Kuantan General Hospital due to diabetic complications. It seems that the leg has to be given to the surgeon's knife. That reminds me of my diabetes too.Looks like i have to take serious precautions in my my food intake in order to control my blood sugar level.
Sometimes life is not fair, when you are young money is scarce, your crave for food is aggressive but you cannot afford.Towards old age, when you have the extra, you are barred from taking certain food due to health complications.Well, what is there to complain, life has never been fair.

NOMINATION DAY

Today is the nomination day for the candidates who has been chosen by their various parties to contest in the election.Malaysia is a guided democratic country whoose election is done once in 5 years without fail since independent. We are bless to have lived our lives in this beloved country. Thanks to the first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman who has paved the way for joint coalition among various race to work together for the betterment of the country.Since then all the leaders after him has followed his footstep ensuring that the solidarity of the coalition is intact.
I woke up quite late today, since my youngest daughter is still in school attending a programe conducted by the teachers over the night.I felt empty due to the fact that every morning have to send my children to school. So we just strolled on the beach allowing the dogs their temporary freedom to run on the beach.Thomas as usual will be chased by Edna until into the sea water. Its good for them to get salt water all over their bodies to get rid of ticks if its there.Chelsea will ocassionaly run after them but will not leaved the sight of me.After the morning stroll,i did some raking of the fallen leaves in the garden.By the time i finished raking its already 11.00am and its time for Ayot to to go for her tution at Belwin tution centre in town. The tution starts at 12.00pm until 3.00 pm.Came back to fetch Iman at school, while waiting for her my son and i went to collect the lorry which is ready.
In the afternoon my wife and i fetched Ayot at the tution centre and we went to Cowboy hypermarket to look for a windshield wiper. My son broke it while washing the car this morning.I guess he still does not know how to coordinate his strength yet.A lot of things touched by him wil have the tendency to be broken.
I am still contemplating wether to go to Kuala Lumpur with the lorry to collect furnitures that we bought at the secondhand shop for the hair salon. The thought of going to Kuala Lumpur really makes me tired, after 30 years of spending my working live in the city. Now that i feel relax living in this small town, makes me not going anywhere anymore. My wife is busy doing her crafts job of making baskets for the biohoney soap to be given as gifts ordered by my sister.Actually living here is more busy than ever, there a lot of things to do.So much of retiring.

HOT WEATHER

Today i decided to water my plants at night.I believed that watering at night will give time for the plant to absorb water.I tried watering during the day,i find it dries up so fast that the plants does not have time to absorb the water.
This morning my wife and i walked the beach,we found a fish washed ashore. It is still fresh so we brought home to cook some curry with the fish. The morning passed by very fast.As usual we send our daughters to school early in the morning and throw away our garbage at the public dustbin.Actually its not a public dustbin,it belongs to the school. That reminds me to write a letter to the Town Council requesting a public dustbin in our vicinity.
My son is down with a flu.I guess the after shock of failing his written driving test. His aunt called if he is interested to work on a cargo liner as a kitchen helper.I talked to him to take the offer,so that he can see the world and get some experience. After all he is only 20 years old.The shop can wait.He called his aunty this morning to discuss the offer.
Since today is Friday the school ends earlier at 12.00pm,normaly it ends at 2.30 pm.The girls came back and was surprised to find curry fish on their lunch table.
Had a good afternoon nap after a heavy lunch. My neighbour came to measure the shop for renovation. Now that i'm contemplating weather to go on with renovation or not, since my son is most likely to take up the cargo liner offer.
I called Mazni the lady who borrowed our money to go into buying of pawned gold.Looks like she has all the excuse for delaying the payment.Need to follow up on her daily from now on.Nothing much to talk about today.

DRIVING TEST

Today my son went for his written test at the Road Transport Department.Off late there ia a lot of changes being made in order for one to get a driving licence.I guess the goverment wants to reduce traffic accident.Statistic shows that 75% of accident are caused by drivers that has passed their driving test within 3 years. The youngsters are so eager to drive and have no patience on the road.Well we cannot blame the youngsters so much as we are at fault too.Remember when we are young we used to drive like them and they were still small kids in the car.So they emulate what we have done while at the steering wheel.

After sending our two daughters to school,we send our son the office where the agent will bring him to the Road Transport Department to sit for the test.We drop by at a local eating stall and had our breakfast. We bought nasi lemak for our son's guest at home.Only today we had a really good talk with his friends. My son called around 10.30am saying that he failed the written test. The passing mark is 42 out of 50 question. His score was 40 marks only.He has to resit for the test sometime in the future.Anuar went to fetch him in town.

I decided to redo my wiring to make it proper, since the last was attached to a normal plug.I think the switch that i bought was not functioning as expected, because after all the wiring has been done it light up both the lights but when i switched it off the fuse in the plug blown.
Anuar and his girlfriend Jamilah went back today after spending two days at our house.Jamilah bought a PS2 for Anuar's birthday.Youngsters, they spend money without thinking of the future, not like us when we were at their age.Always trying to be prudent in whatever expenses incurred.Maybe love that matters most of all.

ELECTRICIAN IN THE MAKING

Talk about procastination,i have been procastinating my electrical chores for quite sometime.Today i decided to light up the pegola.Whats the use of having the floating pegola where you cannot enjoy at night.Yesterday went to buy all the necessary things to light up the pegola.

After our daily morning beach walk,i decided its time to do something to the pegola.First of all i watered the plants, these days the weather is so hot,so much so the grass is turning yellowish due to the soil is so dried up.Luckily the breeze is still strong and the waves are quite aggresive, that makes the environment quite cool. The weather is so hot after watering the grass,it dried up within half an hour.

I did the wiring on my own.The other day i did ask a local electrician if he is to do the wiring for me.His charges are quite reasonable as compared to kuala Lumpur. For lighting point he charge RM30.00 for one point and sockets for RM45.00 per point.I feel that why giveaway that ammount of money since i can do myself.Sometimes i hate of knowing all this technical thing. It makes me feel that why should i waste the money, when the job is so simple. So i end up doing it all alone. One thing i hate most when doing all this handyman's job is lack of tools.I just cannot wait to see the pegola all lighted up,so i connect it to the normal plug.Once lighted up,what a wonderful sight to see and now we can sit under the pegola and see fishes swimming at night.

After sending my daughter to Mandarin tuition,we went to Mega Mall to buy chinese dictionary for our daughter. We stop by at Malakka a cafe behind the mall to have some drinks and also to show the set up done by the cafe's owner. It looks simple and cosy.I think thats how i want to decorate our son's cafe when the time comes. My wife and our youngest daughter went to the mall to the the shopping while i browse around the computer shop.Nowadays computer desktop are not that expensive anymore,i enquired about a good desktop for the purpose of playing games for my son,it cost aproximately RM2455.00 only, with all the latest whatever card that is supposed to be placed. I joined my wife at the mall and together we drove to pick up my other daughter at the tuition centre. We stop by at Tunas Manja,a local hypermarket to buy additional things for the lighting.

On the way home we stopped at our mechanic shop to learn the progress of our lorry that i sent for repair the previous week.

THE ROUTINE

Looks like today is the start of the routine sending my daughter to Mandarin tuition.Prior to that this morning my wife and i went for our usual morning walk at the beach with our dogs after sending our two lovely angels to school. As usual she will bring a plastic bag to collect some shells of which i;m still wondering what she is going to do with all those shells collected. So nice to see how the dogs enjoy running on the beach.Thomas will always disturb Chelsea and Giant forever digging here and there to find crabs, while Edna will be roaming here and there.
I decided to siphon out our sewege tank as it is already been full for the last couple of days. The stinks is unbearable.I used the submersible pond pump to siphon it out and place it in a pail to water the plants. What a way of fertilising the plants with the true organic fertilisers. The pump is quite small in capacity,so it took me almost 2 hours to really empty the whole tank.My son continue with his daily assignment which is to fill the pathway with beach sand.We had to do this in order tp avoid wate clog during the monsoon season.I told him to cart at least 10 carts a day.He has a long way to go as i see it, it needs at least 300 to 500 carts to fill the pathway. I decided to continue my reading of the Koran after my afternoon prayer of which i have neglected for quite sometime.
Wan the healer came to visit me in the evening after a long silence on his part.We plan to go to Sungai lembing in one of the weekends to fish some river fish as an addition to my fish collection.Anuar and his girlfriend came to visit my son tonight.they were together working in Genting Highlands for the past 3 years.
His friend Wan and Rosli will join tomorrow.
While waiting for my daughter to finish her tuition session,we went to Tunas Manja a local hypermarket to do some groceries. On the way back we stop by at an aquarium shop to look at some fish ans as usual end up buying some more fishes.I wonder when i'm going to stop adding to the pond.

MONDAY BLUES

Today is Monday the day that every working people dread of going to work.It seems the weekend just pass through without you even realise it is there. With all the house errands has to be done which we always procastinate it until theres no more excuse for not doing it.All of a sudden ,there goes your weekend.Well we cannot blame anybody for procastinating our chores.
Today we went to the National Registeration department in Indera Mahkota in Kuantan to collect my daughter's indentity card which is called MyKad nowadays. To our dismay the card was not ready,it seems they have a problem at the HQ level and ask us to come again in three weeks time.I insisted that they called HQ to find out what went wrong with the processes.Had i not insisted on them to called then i would have to make a few trips again to settle the matter.I left my phone number for them to contact me once they have the card ready.
We went to Pok Brothers to buy some meat dust for our dogs. The man who is incharge of the cold room is a very helpful person.Thats what you get in a small town, personal customer relationship. He even cut the frozen meat dust to make it easy for me to store in the refigerator.I will not get this type of service in Kuala Lumpur. We went to see some furnitures that my wife have eyed the previous week.We stop by at a secondhand kitchen equipment shop just to survey the price of things for my son's cafe soon to be open.We drop by at the aquarium shop to buy some fishes to replace those that went missing the other day.We also stop by at a Japanese Koi shop to see those elegant fish swimming. The price are very expensive,i do not think i want to risk my investment in buying those fish.
Cleared all the metal cans at the dump area and place it in a rubbish plastic bag to be taken to the public dustbin.Found one near the stadium.
Thats all folk for the time being. Now have to monitor my youngest daughter's mandarin homework.
Bye.

SUDDEN VACATION

Yesterday was a sudden vacation for my family and i.It all began when i voluntered to acompany my neighbour to attend a seminar on Economic Corridor for the East Coast of Malaysia.I voluntered since her manager could not attend the seminar.Unfortunately she went with her manager without my knowledge and i only knew after she was half way to the seminar when she called me.
A few days prior to that i have announced to my two daughters that i'll be going to Terengganu for the seminar and their mother is following me.They pastered to follow us and i agreed. They were all in high spirit and looking forward for the trip since they have not gone to Terengganu before. When i recieved the call that my neighbour has gone without me,they were all depressed.Looking at their faces i could not help but agree to go along even it's not for the seminar.
We started our journey from home at 4.30 am so as to ensure that we have ample time spend in Terengganu.
The pets were quite surprised learning that we fed them as early as 4.00 am which is rather odd for them.My son did not sleep at all and to our surprise he prepared us breakfast which is fried mee hoon for the journey. We ate our breakfast in the car to save time for the journey. The children were already fast asleep once they have taken their breakfast and only in Kerteh which is a petroleum town that i woke them up to see the lights coming from the refinery. What a wonderful view to see all the lights lighted up all over the refinery area.It reminds me of an outer space movie that i have seen before.
We reached Terengganu around 7.30 am and straight went for breakfast at Losong town where they have this wonderful Nasi Dagang but to my dismay it does not taste like it was before. We went to our friend's house whoose husband has just past away recently(Abg Zaki(deceased)and Kak Ani). They were wonderful couple who would extent their help without any excuse once you seek one.The daughter was trying to cope up with the lost of the father since they were close before. The only advise i could give is that life has to go on even if we like it or not.We could not change the Takdir that ALLAH has set upon us except to accept it gracefully and i always believe that for every mishaps that comes along there will be some good in it.
We went to Taman Tamaddun Islam which the state government has build in Pulau Wan Man.The goverment has build the replica of all famous mosques in the world.Unfortunately the place has just been pre launched, alot of landscape is still under construction.I hope to come back again after awhile to give time for the landscape to mature first. But one thing that i notice is that the Xian Mosque of China have all the figurines on their minaret.I wonder what our Ulama will have to say about that.
We dropped by at the state museum,it boast the biggest museum in the country but lack of artifacts for display. After our body has been cooled by the museum airconditioned we moved to the city as usual for my wife's shopping. She bought quite alot of unnecessary things and of we shoot home.On the way home still in the city area we spotted an aquarium shop.We stopped by to buy some fishes.
We reached home around 9.10pm,my son drove all the way from Terengganu, not bad for a young boy who has learnt driving a couple of months back. The first thing we did was to take care of the fishes bought in Terengganu.I released them in a secured place in our fish pond. My son straight away went for his bath and took the bed without wishing us goodnight.I guess he must have been tired. Its his first long distance driving which is around 200 km.
To my surprise this morning woke up and have a look at the fish.It was gone. Not even a trace of them. Before this my goldfish was gone too.We suspected our great dane must have eaten it,but last night we make sure that the great dane was in his kennel. So looks like Thomas O'Malley has been acquitted without his defence being called. As of now i'm still wandering who the culprit is.My wife suggested that we install a cctv.So much keeping fish as a hobby.

HIJRAH

This year hope to be a wonderful year for my my family and i.We have moved from Kuala lumpur to a seaside house in Kuantan which is the east Coast of Malayasia.I bought a foodstall lot for our son to start his restaurant business and also for our adopted chinese daughter to start her hair salon business. Now that I'm retired.I spent a lot of time pottering around the garden and lately took up rearing of ornamental fish as a hobby. We build a pond surrounding a pegola as if the pegola is a floating pegola. Not much fish being placed yet as I am learning the best way to keep the pond algae free without incurring much cost.Every morning my wife and i will walk the beach with our dogs.We have a Great Dane by the name of Thomas O'Malley,a German Sheperd(Chelsea),a Mongrel(Edna Mode Pappillion)and a Miniature Pincher(Giant). We also have cats(Chachi,Joanne,Mak Freddy,Adik D,Kak Long sveta,Sanggul@Jugheadjones,Tun Juggah,Prince Charming and Pricess Marie Magaret).I rescued a pigeon with a broken leg we name it Cecilia(she just lie on her back all the time since food comes to her without fail daily, now my wife have made a pillow for her to rest). On top of it we have 3 Hornbills that comes to our house once a week and perch on our deck.We name it Cassidy and Cassandra(the other one we have not named yet).
Life ia at a slow pace here.Every morning both of us will send our two daughters to a Public school which is a 5 minutes drive.Theres a lot of things that need to be done, especially the compound, since it is a 1 acre compound theres a lot of gardening and maintaining need to be done, while my wife will be busy with the laundry and cooking.Tuesdays night and Wednesdays evening need to send the daughters for their Mandarin tuition and Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning its tuition for my daughter since she is in her final year of Junior High.
